My mini-rocker

James took another video with the camera that I thought was funny. In this one, Kate is rocking out to some U2. You'll enjoy the dizziness. I think apple should use this for an iPod commercial...

PS - I promise to get better video quality on here soon.

Watch this video

Here's my first attempt at posting a video. This is from our camera and not great quality. We just got our video camera back from Cannon (it's been broken for a while), so I'll try to get some better footage up if this works.

Chore time!

As you can see from these photos, Kate has become very helpful. Check it out! She likes to sweep...

feed the dogs (with Mattie's supervision, of course)...

and do laundry.

Ok, so she's not that great at laundry, but what can you expect from a one year old! Her favorite is feeding the dogs, which she does most evenings.

I want that!

Can you picture my little squirt on this slide? She's probably about half the size of the little boy pictured (ok, that's an exaggeration, but you get my point). We went to a birthday party at a friend's house a few weeks ago and they had this slide from Step2. It's about 3.5-4 feet tall. As soon as Kate spotted it, she was up the ladder in nothing flat and was ready to "Eeee!", which is her word for slide. She slid again and again. Lots of fun. We will definitely be saving up for one of these babies!

We all fall down! Ok, not ALL...

Kate's new favorite pastime is ring-around-the-rosie. She grabs your hands, looks up at you, and says something like "akees? akees?" She did this to me a few times before I realized what she was saying. It wasn't until we were playing said game once and I fell down as she screamed "akees! akees!" that I realized she was saying "ashes". She doesn't fall down, either. She just pulls you up to play again.

Picture and a haircut... 20 bucks??

I took Kate to get her haircut yesterday. Between runny noses, peanut butter and jelly, and a little girl who WILL NOT keep anything in her hair, Kate's hair was getting pretty ratty and disgusting by the end of the day. So, I finally caved and went to the new kids haircut place near the mall. Kate became clingy the second we walked through the door, despite the table full of puzzles, barber chairs just like the airplanes and fire engines you pay a quarter to ride, and the movie Cars showing on about 10 TVs. Kate wouldn't let go of me, so I sat in a regular barber chair with her in my lap. We finally got the apron on her and the actual cutting of hair went better than I expected. I opted for the 1st haircut special - $20 gets you a haircut, certificate, lock of hair, and a picture (as opposed to $15 for just a haircut). So, after the haircut, we tried and tried to get Kate's picture, but she wouldn't look at the hairdresser. I think getting the picture afterwards took more effort than cutting her hair. Anyway, we finally got one and you can see the results below. I'm afraid she looks like a boy, but there wasn't really much alternative. My friend keeps telling me she had to do the same thing and it helped her little girl's hair grow out better. Let's hope so. She still has some curls in the back, though they were trimmed just a bit. I think she'll be wearing lots of pink!
